So many people I talk with - Democrats AND Republicans-are deeply troubled by the radical agenda and policies of the Republican majority in Raleigh. But not everyone realizes how dramatically what's happening at the state level will affect us here in New Hanover County. Unfortunately, what's happening in Raleigh doesn't stay in Raleigh.
We need to do a better job of managing growth, focusing on our transportation and infrastructure needs.
The right to clean water is non-negotiable. We need to hold polluters accountable, strengthen regulations, and enforce the law.
We need to work with our health care partners to address the prescription drug and opioid epidemic.
We need to balance economic growth with the natural beauty of our environment and the quality of life we value. We need to work harder to preserve trees and green space.
We need to do more to support public education at all levels from Pre-K through community college, and do more to ensure all citizens enjoy safe neighborhoods.
I believe it's critically important that someone LOCALLY speaks out about these policies...and the harmful effects they will have on our environment, our schools...on so many issues that affect all of us in New Hanover County.
That's why I'm running for re-election for County Commissioner in 2018...because the conversation we need to have about the future can't wait.
